James Norrington stared at Lord Cutler Beckett as if he'd never seen him before. And maybe, he thought, he hadn't.
"That's an order!"
"I'm afraid I don't take orders from you anymore," Norriongton said. "I regret that I never had an opportunity to formally tender my resignation."
"This is outrageous!" Beckett snapped. "This is treason!"
"Ultimately, we all have to answer to a higher authority."
Beckett raised his chin. "There is no higher authority."
"I'm afraid not." Norrington allowed himself a humorless smile. "You're dead. Welcome to the Flying Dutchman, Your Lordship."
