Remember When?

"Hi, MacGyver! It's Penny! I guess you're not there, otherwise you'd answer the phone. I want you to call me back as soon as you get this message, because I have some absolutely terrific news and I just can't wait to tell you! Well ... I guess I'll just go ahead and tell you now. I got a part in a play! It's only a small part but you know what they say, little parts lead to bigger parts! Anyway, I thought you might want to take me out tonight to celebrate. There's this hot new coffee place, it's called Starbucks ... "

Gift or Guile?

The rectangular package leaned against MacGyver's door. It would have looked innocuous to anyone else. But ever since Murdoc's body hadn't been found again, Mac had been jittery.

Forty-five minutes and three MacGyverisms later, he cautiously approached the package. Eased the wrapper off.

A note fell out, in Jack's scrawl. That actress Penny set me up with gave me this. I guess she thought she could convert me. Maybe you can use it?

Mac let out a deep breath and picked up the vegetarian cookbook. He could almost allow himself to believe that things were getting back to normal.

Almost.

I've been watching CSI for years, but I've never been really fannish about it. I watched it as a puzzle -- could I figure out whodunnint before Grissom & Co. did? -- but that was all.

Until ( SPOILER ALERT ) happened. And the resolution, which I expected to be an ongoing arc (Babylon 5 having SPOILED ME FOR LIFE!) was resolved in one episode. And I wibbled at the end and decided I wasn't going to watch CSI anymore because ( OTHER SPOILERY THING ) and it just wasn't CSI anymore, even if I wasn't really fannish about it.

Cut to last week, when I was bored and CSI was on and it was the episode after the last episode I watched. Which introduced Dr. Ray Langston who had been a doctor, and one of his co-workers had been an angel of death and killed 27 people and he hadn't caught them. Which mashed my "guilt kink" button bigtime.

So the story floated in the back of my mind and I wasn't going to write it down because I had homework and more homework and it wasn't my fandom anyway. But tonight I needed distraction and that story I hadn't intended to write was still floating around in the back of my mind waiting to be written

So yeah. I guess I'm now officially fannish about CSI now. (It's also past my bedtime, so forgive the rambling ramble of rambly doom.)
