Math for Crazy People
Jun. 21st, 2008 12:25 amAccording to the Eowyn Challenge (which is a very handy resource), it's 535 miles from Minas Tirith to Isengard, and another 693 miles from Isengard to Rivendell, for a total of 1228 miles.
The Walk Time Calculator Suggests a pace of between 2.5 and 3 miles per hour. (I think my guys can probably do about 3.5 -- they're not going to be enjoying the scenery. Rounds up to 351 hours travel time.
Assume they're going to be going when they're not sleeping (16 hours), that's 22 days. Which seems like too little time.
Especially considering the "issues" that I'm going to be throwing at them.
(Personally, I really wouldn't buy them making the journey in under two months. After all, in Canon, it took the walkers 2 months to get from Rivendell to the Falls of Rauros. Though they did have to make a few course corrections. Still, they were all fit, at the time.
Hmmm ...
Anyway, I should probably head off to bed. Seeing as I have to be at work in just over six hours.
