In my current fic, I've got an OC who's using a computer for English-to-Westron translations. But, seeing as she is a contemporary individual (and computer geek), a lot of what she says isn't going to have an equivalent. Not even close.

I was thinking of having the computer just translate anything that was immediately translateable, and let the contemporary-isms just go directly through without even trying to circomlocute a Westron equivalent.

The problem is, the computer geek (who knows how all this works) isn't the POV character. The POV character is speaking (and thinking in) Westron, and has just died, woken up in a strange place, and is having a very strange conversation with a decidedly strange young woman.

So...should I just hunt the wild buffalo and let the linguistic chips fall where they may? Have the geek explain things? Or something else entirely?
