Blogger Who: The Ordeal

Spoilers!
The title seemed particularly appropriate to me, because watching it felt like an ordeal. Way too much to do with aryans in funny outfits, not nearly enough of, well, anything else.
Despite the whole thing about the Doctor having a plan to cause a diversion, he goes down into the city early. He and Susan are having too much fun being saboteurs (though it is adorable) and not watching out enough for the Daleks, and what a shock, they get caught. Again.
(And I have to wonder ... why wouldn't the Daleks just exterminate them right now? They've escaped before, they're leading the Thals ... a summary execution would be the logical tactical response.)
Instead, of course, they tell the Doctor and Susan their plan to flood the world with radiation, starting a long tradition of for Who villains to follow.
Meanwhile, Barbara and Ian are in the caves, and there's a long, drawn-out business about crossing a chasm to contend with. (I couldn't help laughing at Ian telling Barbara "reach around with your hand!" because I am twelve years old.) We ended up pretty much where we started, with a Thal in peril and me rolling my eyes.
