Spoilers!

Finally, we get some action to conclude our non-action-packed Dalek-introducing serial.

We rejoin our heroes in the caves, where the Cowardliest Thall is hanging from a rope. But he proves his courage by cutting the rope and falling, letting the others keep going. At first, though, it seems like he's sacrificed in vain. There doesn't seem like any way of getting through. Until, of course, they shut out the lights at exactly the right place to see light from the tunnels above.

Meanwhile, back in the Dalek city, the Doctor is trying to negotiate for everyone's lives by offering to show them how to work the TARDIS. They decide, instead, to take it themselves when they've flooded the planet with radiation; they have confidence in their ability to work out how to pilot it without the Doctor.

Meanwhile, back in the Thall encampment, they decide that now is the time to attack.

With the Doctor, we overhear the progress of the Daleks' irradiation plans, and of their mobilization to fight the Thalls. They shut off various parts of the city, which causes trouble for Ian and Barbara's party; Barbara nearly gets crushed by a door, but they eventually make it through, and why the heck do the highly-advanced Daleks not have sensors for when the doors aren't fully closed? Seriously?

When I was in the Navy, *mumblemumble* years ago, we had panels where we could monitor what valves were open and shut. It's not high-level technology here.

I know, I know, it's for story purposes. So is the countdown that plays through most of the scene, to heighten tension.

Anyway, they get through, and start attacking the Daleks with sticks and stones (I kid you not). Because they are the Good Guys, this works. Though a lot of the Thalls are shot (and react before the FX. This will, I am sure, be an important factor in the Time War)

Meanwhile, the Doctor and Susan are just hanging out, shackled to a wall.

The countdown just randomly stops at about four, with no explanation, though the fight goes on a little longer before the Daleks start randomly dying when the unexplainably transmittable anti-radiation meds start kicking in all at once.

They ask the Doctor for help, but he's all "even if I wanted to, I have no clue how to help you guise." So the Daleks (that we see) die, though we all know they'll be back many, many times in the future, and it's All The Doctor's Fault.

The whole Time War, the fall of Gallifrey, was all because he insisted on tricking his companions into going down to the Dalek city, by claiming that the TARDIS's fluid link was broken.

Anyway, the Thalls go back to their encampment, the Doctor gives them some cryptic non-advice, the women get clothing-type gifts, and they take off for ... wherever Sexy is going to take them next. But of course, it's not a smooth take-off; the TARDIS shakes violently enough that they're knocked down.

Next up: The Edge of Destruction
