I saw it last night with some friends; I was in pirate garb that I'd cobbled together. It was ... wow.
Not as good as the first movie, which I think was the best of the three, and worked well on its own. It was dark, in a way that the previous two weren't. Not a kid's movie, definitely; I'm glad my sister's going to see it with her boyfriend before she lets neffie #1 see it, so she won't get pissed at me if I didn't warn her enough. ;)
Still, it had some fun moments, too. And it has spawned a couple of plot bunnies, one which is OC-heavy (which makes me nervous.)
Actual meta and/or fic later, maybe?

Date: 2007-05-27 10:42 am (UTC)I found myself watching for the minor characters rather than the Bloom/Knightley/Depp/ action. Barbossa was superb though!
How bloody dare they kill off Jack Davenport? *seethes* Am utterly furious and plan to spend this afternoon watching PotC2 for lots of rugged beardy Davenport action. *yum*
It was very dark though. I managed to convince myself that actually, Bootstrap would be the one who would kill Davy Jones and become captain of the Dutchman - much more happier ending, but I liked what they did because I was sure they wouldn't have the guts to do it and they did! Hoorah!
Did you stay til the end of the credits? I could hear the screams of a thousand fangirls ringing in my ears and am watching anxiously for the spawning of millions of badly written MarySues

Date: 2007-05-28 06:36 am (UTC)I was expecting it to be the other "Captain Turner," too, though considering where they'd already gone plotwise, with all the killing off of people, in retrospect I can say I should have seen it coming.
(I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't a little more of the "Hello, my name is Elizabeth Swann. You killed my father. Prepare to die." action going on there. I mean she killed off Jack last movie, I'd hardly think having her run Lord Sticke-Buttocks though would have lost her any sympathy.)
